This Hobbit's Life

The Adventures of Hobbit Hottie and P-chan

I said Yes!!!!
Dec 29, 2010 a day I will never forget. The Christmas holidays that year were tough because my grandmother was killed in a car accident 4 days before Christmas, but somehow through the Lord, our family managed to have a good Christmas. We had a lot of fun together, and my family and boyfriend bonded more than previously. Dec 28 was the funeral and my boyfriend was there right by side as our family dealt with this tragedy. My dad was really touched by this hence the bonding!

We had a friend offer to baby sit my son during this rough time, so Pchan had asked her to babysit my son on Dec 29 so we could have a date night. We hadn't had in since the end of summer. Scott Pilgrim vs the World!! Yea baby!! I asked if it was ok to dress up, for some reason I felt like dressing fancy for the date, he said yes, and that the place we were going was really nice and you are expected to dress up. We had a gift certificate to The Eagle's Nest. A rotating restaurant on top of Hyatt in Indianapolis! Very fancy!! A few hours before we went on our date a friend of mine called me on the phone and we had a chat. She asked me, "so when is he gonna ask you to marry you?" I said, "I hope sometime in the next year."

I remember the night was real cold, and I only had a not very pretty coat, so I just wore a sweater with my dress. I froze my butt off, Pete was gracious and such a gentlemen! He put his coat on me as we walked towards the restaurant. We finally got there and out of the cold. Dinner was absolutely fabulous. I had lobster bisque, yum!! For dinner I had crab stuffed halibut with some noodles and veggies. I think Pete had a fillet mingon and a steak in some yummy creamy sauce with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus.(I think) I was too busy eating my yummy meal to look at what he was eating, that and his beautiful brown eyes!! I did ask fro a bite though, and it was delicious, whatever it was! I think it was the house special.

While we had waited for our food, I don't know what came over me, but I wanted to talk about our future and we did. After dinner we talked more while deciding if we were gonna have desert or not. Pete decided to get desert. After desert we talked some more. Through out the night I had put my hands in front of him, so he would grab them and hold them, since we were sitting across from each other. Well after dessert I had decided to do this again, I just can never resist wanting to hold his soft hands. When I did this, he said something like, "there is something missing," and I thought to myself, well yea of course! You see, through out the year I would show jokingly show him my hands and show him my empty ring finger and say, "there is something missing you will have to fix that someday!!" So I was about to jokingly say something like that again and maybe say duh too, when he said, "oh I have to do something about that," as he reached into his coat pocket. I think time stood still for a second because I just gave him a blank stare like someone in a daze. He pulled out a pox, my heart started to pound was it what I thought it would be? Would I dare dream it?? He unwrapped the bow on the red box and inside was a littler box. More heart pounding. He opened up the little box and what does my eye see? A beautiful ring I know is for me...... and the best 4 words I will ever hear that follow, in a very cute and quiet voice, "will you marry me?" I was speechless. I put my hands on my mouth and gasped as he put the ring on my finger! It took me a second before I said the obvious answer. He had caught me completely off guard! I was speechless for a moment!! Then I said, "are you serious????" He said something like, "do I sound serious," or, "does this look serious?" Then I gave him a big hug! The people behind us asked, "awwww did you just get engaged????" Poor Pete! He said to me, "I was hoping to avoid that!!" He is darn cute! When we were done eating we got on the elevator and I couldn't help but look at my newly filled hand! It wasn't empty anymore! We shared the elevator with a bunch of ladies and they said, "awwwww did you just get engaged? Lets see the ring!" Then they ooohed and ahhhed about how gorgeous the ring was. One said it was breath taking! Poor Pete!!! More attention!! But he knew what he was getting into asking out a very social butterfly like myself! I guess opposites do attract! We were gonna go see a movie, but we decided to go home and cuddle on the couch and watch a Harry Potter movie and drink some wine, after all, we are geeks, we had to celebrate in a geeky way!!

When asked earlier when I thought Pete was gonna ask me to marry him, I had never ever imagined it would be only a few short hours later! What a day!!

21 For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.

I really do need to do a better job of not doing things to please myself, especially if they are not what pleases Christ. I also need to live my life according to what God has planned for me, instead of trying to look out for my own interests and do what I want to do, regardless of what God's wants. When I do that, I always end up disappointed and hurt, but I still end up doing my own thing anyway. How stupid is that?

29 Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him, 30 because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for the help you could not give me.

Here, Paul is talking about a man named, Epaphroditus. Here you see a man who almost died, for the work of Christ. Paul is saying to honor men lie him and hold men lie him in high esteem. How often do we as Christians, see other Christians who are on fire for God and are carrying on the works of God, and ministering to people in his name? How often do we esteem them? Or do we bad mouth them and talk about how they are "too Christian" and we think they are going to be the uptight judgemental types? When Christians put other Christians down because they have a stronger Christian walk, we need to hang out heads in shame, and quit being jealous that our own Christian walk is not as strong. We need to look up to these Christians and hold them in high esteem, instead of tear them down, and bad mouth them behind their backs. This is not showing Christian love. We need to learn from these Christians, so our own Christian walk grows stronger. I usually don't have a problem with this, but I am very bothered by it.

My Prayer: That I live according what God wants for my life instead of what I want.
I pray I don't end up becoming "Christian basher."

3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

This is something I really try to do, but am not always good at. I am pretty selfish by nature. I do have the gift of compassion and I do try to put other's needs ahead of my own, especially if they are in pain or suffering, but the area I need to work on the most is putting my kid ahead of me. He usually has to do what I want all the time and I have to fit him into my agenda but I I would lie to do more stuff that is important to him instead of just making him do everything I want to, and go wherever I want to go. I need to work with him on school work and stuff instead of ignore him when i am too busy doing stuff for me, like chatting online. I also, at times, tend to do things that seem like I am doing good for someone, but I am really doing it to either get good attention for myself or because I am gonna get something in return.

14 Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe

I am a big complainer and arguer. I always have to have the last word. I would like to work on this and let my light shine in this world, so when people, especially those who are unsaved, look at me, they will see someone who really is different and stands out, because she lives by different standards, and isn't a hypocrite.

My Prayer: I pray I am better at putting my child's needs ahead of my own.
When God tells me to do something, even if it isn't something I understand, I pray I will do it joyfully and without complaining and arguing. I pray I can be like this with people who have authority over me too lie my bosses, or my church leaders.

Bible Reading: Phillipians 1:16-30

20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

When I am living by God's standards, and I can show Christ's love by the way I live my life, then I am really living and not just existing so real living for me is when I am Christ like in the way I live and then when I die I really gain, because I will be living with Christ forever in eternity. I would love to be remembered when I die as someone who was totally committed to living a life to serve and please my Lord and Saviour.

27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel

I have not always lived my life in a Christ like way, and when I don't, I am giving the Gospel of Christ a bad name. Unsaved people are looking in and when they see me, a person who claims to be a Christian and living by God's standards, do something that contradicts God's standards, then why would they want to have anything to do with God or Jesus? I want to live a life as a testimony of God's awesome power and show them how God has worked in my life and has blessed me.

29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him

People may not like me because I am a Christian, and I may loose friends because of it, but Jesus suffered and died a horrible death for me the least I can do is suffer for him.

My Prayer: That I will learn to live a more Christ like life, and do things that are not contradictory to God's Biblical standards, which I claim to live by, by admitting I am Christian amid live by these standards. I don't want to be a hypocrite.

4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

This tells me to pray for people and have joy praying for them. There are a lot of people I don't like in this world, but if they need my prayer I need to pray for them with joy. I want people out there to know that if you want me to pray for you just say the word. I don't even have to know you, and I will still pray for whatever you want me to pray for.

I need to be more confident that when God created me he began a good work and he will continue to work in my life (even when I mess up) until either I die or Jesus comes again, whichever comes first.

9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God

I need to love learning from the word of God more because when I am studying God's word and loving it I will grow in knowledge of his Word and depth of insight which is another way of saying I will be able to apply what I am reading in God's word to my life and grow spiritually, but it is hard to grow spiritually when I am not reading God's word regularly and applying it to my life. By reading God's word I learn how to be discernful and discern what is the best way to live for God. When I am not reading God's word I am not discernful at all and I end up making foolish decisions, or I don't handle difficult situations gracefully and I end up becoming rude or crude towards people, especially if I have a difficult time getting along with them in the first place.

My prayer: That I will be more consistent in reading God's word daily even if it is just something short.

Peter and Heather's Memorable Days
Mar 13, 14, 15 Whosyercon: When Peter Met Heather! We met while I was recruiting players for a pick up game of Cineplexity.

Mar 17
I called Pete for the first time on my new cell phone. We started texting everyday.

Mar 22
Pete and I were texting while I was at work making jokes about wishing we could hang out and too bad I had to work. I said I "wish you were here," he'd respond something like, "that would have been fun." I never thought to ask him to come visit, because I didn't think he would drive 65 miles in the late afternoon just to see me, but he said "want me to come over or something?" I thought he was joking, so I said jokingly back, "sure" Of course he wasn't joking and he really did come! We hiked at Turkey Run State park with my son and co worker friend then when my co worker friend went back home Pete, Seth and I had Pizza Hut for Dinner.

Mar 27-28
I took Peter out for his birthday at Mayberry Cafe in Danville, IN and gave Peter the Guiness World Book Of Records 2009 Gamers Edition. He met my son, Seth, for the first time. The next day my coworker friend, and Seth and I, met Peter at Southport Public Library to game with our meetup group. Peter Seth and I snuck away to the mall to get food and have time alone with each other and got lost on the way back to the library. I took a birthday cake that I baked for Peter. I decorated it with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings figures and 2 Cineplexity cards. We got teased the leader of the meetup group because she called Peter my boyfriend, and I told her he wasn't. Then she said that you don't bake a cake and decorate it the way I did for a guy who is just your friend. I think in the back of my mind, I wanted Peter to be my boyfriend, buy I didn't admit it. After the library closed, we gamed at Games to Die For in Avon, IN and played Ticket to Ride. This was the first time Peter made his very cute pouty face cause he felt bad for me that I was loosing and he was the one who kept taking my train routes.

April 17 -18
Friday night Seth and I stayed at Days Inn in Northwest Indy, and Peter met me there and took us out to the Macaroni Grill. We got back to the hotel and played games all night while Seth watched Disney Chanel. Pete kicked my butt at Scene It Squabble. He knew too many of the girly questions lol! The next day we went to C's house to visit, and pick up my hard drive. We met J and S later at the Arsenal and played games all day and all night.

May 1-3
Friday night Seth, Peter, C, and I met J and S, and we saw Wolverine, and gamed at J's after wards. We play Karaoke Revolution and Peter won the first game! Everyone voted for him, he couldn't believe it. I was impressed with his singing even though he told me he couldn't sing at all. He did a wonderful rendition of Jessy's Girl. He's so modest! I stayed over night at J's, then the next day, Peter, Seth, and I went to the Indianapolis Children's Museum all day. We saw a cool comic book and Star Wars exhibit. After the museum, we went food shopping, and we made dinner together at Pete's house. An Asian dinner. Salmon Teriyaki, Shrimp Fried Rice, and an Asian salad yum! We went to the video store and rented Facing the Giants and Fireproof. Sunday afternoon Seth and I saw our first Indianapolis Indians game with Pete. As we were walking towards the staduim, Seth kept kissing my hand and he wanted me to kiss his hand. Then he said I had to kiss Peter. I was gonna kiss his hand and Seth said "no on the lips!" I asked him, "why would I do that? You don't kiss a guy who isn't your boyfriend." To which Seth replied, "Oh I didn't know that. But Momma you got to be nice to Peter." After we did end up actually dating Seth started telling me that now I had to, "like Peter a very lot much." Then he would go on to tell me, "I had to love Peter a very lot much!"

May 14
I finally broke down and called Pete on his lunch break and told him I wanted to be his girl! He had told me before he had feeling for me and wanted to ask me out, but I decided that I needed to start things off slowly and just be friends for a while. That last about 2 months.

May 16-15
Seth and I met Peter, and I made him breakfast, then we picked up one of my friends, and went to C's for his anime marathon. I fell in love with it. After the marathon, Peter and I went back to his house to get ready for our first date as an official couple. Peter wouldn't tell me where we were going. He sure did look hot in his suit. I wore a sparkly black evening gown I bought at a thrift store for 6 bucks. Peter took me to Rick's Boatside Cafe, a seafood/steak place along a pier. I had a very yummy shrimp dinner. A lot of peopled stared at us, I felt like a movie star walking around with her leading man. After dinner, we went home to change before our movie started. Of course being geeks, our first date movie was geeky. We saw the new Star Trek movie. After the movies, we headed downtown and went to Jillians and played some arcade games. We used our tickets to buy Seth a blow up Spiderman. After Jillians, we walked around the circle, downtown, and sat by the Circle Center fountain, and looked at the stars. It was the most magical and most memorable first date ever.

May 29-31: Sugarcon
Fri night we got to the campsite and we played some games in the game tent. The next day was rainy, so we cancel our tubing trip and played more games in the game tent. We play d & d together for the first time. I had not played it with Pete before. Later that night we played Are You a Werewolf? around the campfire and my first time as a werewolf Peter ended up being my werewolf partner, but we both got lynched. Sunday Peter went to my church with me for the first time, and got to see me sign the worship songs, and saw me perform my solo, and saw me get my certificate for completing my Christian Woman's Job Corps. After church, and after packing up, we headed for my house, and met my coworker friend, to play games. Seth beat us at Zombie Fluxx.

June 14
After work, I met Peter in Danville for our first month anniversary date, but everything in Danville was closed, so we went to Charbonos in Avon. The waitress decorated our table with a bunch of candles, and kept telling us how sweet we looked together, and told us to come back and see her every month for our anniversary. We headed back to Danville and enjoyed a midnight stroll.

June 17-20
Seth and I went to Peter's, to spend 3 nights there, before he had to leave for his brother's wedding in North Carolina. We went out to eat Thursday night, then we hung out at the house and watched the old 80's classic, Cloak and Dagger. We both forgot how geeky that movie was. Friday, Pete went to work, and I cleaned his house and ran errands. I Had a nice lunch made for Pete for his lunch break. After Pete came home from work we headed over to Black's house and played games, then I got to meet Pete's best friends, E and K, and their kids for the first time. We played Rock Band and Scene It on Xbox. Pete kicked all our asses on Scene It. Seth had a blast with with E and K's oldest daughter.

July 11
Sat night me and Seth went to Pete's. We went out to Steak and Shake, and later that night, Pete introduced me to Flight of the Choncords. Sunday we went to church, and after wards we hung out at the house for a while. Pete helped me with my math hw, then we went to J and T's and I play Agricola for the first time. I got hooked! I got a pretty respectable score. We had take out Chineese food, then we headed home.

July 18
Peter and I went to D and F's yarrrrrrd parties where I met them and a bunch of Peter's friends for the first time. When I got to Peter's house, he surprised me with breakfast and a bouquet of roses, pink carnations, and pink lilies. At the party, I dressed up as Jack Sparrow, since it was a pirate themed party. I learned some fun new games. The crazy card game, bullshit, and bonanza. We played Agricola again and I didn't do as well, but it was still fun. We played Apples to Apples too.

Aug 7-10
Peter, Seth, and I planned to go to KC for a Royals game, and so Seth and I could meet Peter's family. Pete's car broke down in Terre Haute. He had to take it to Midas Sat to have it fixed, but they couldn't fix it til that Mon. Fri night Seth stayed with with my friend, Ellen so we could have a date night. We went to Garfields then we went to see GI Joe. We stayed at Ellen's overnight. Sat morning we got stranded and had to have Pete's car towed to Midas. We met my very geeky friends, Bill and Shannon and 2 of their friends at a Thai joint, then we went to Bill and Shannon's and we gamed with them and their friends. We got pizza with them, then headed to my house. Sun, Pete went to church with m then I drove him back home. I made Pete and I dinner and we watched Flight of the Conchords. Then I headed home.

Aug 10
J drove Peter to Terre Haute to pick up his car. Seth and I met Peter in TH and we took Seth to Ebash to play video games, then we ate at Beefogrady's. We then headed back to my house and played games.

Aug 21-22
Seth and I met Peter in Terre Haute. I left my car in Terre Haute and Seth and I joined him, and we headed to KC. On the way there we got stuck in a terrible traffic jam and were delayed 2 hours. We got to KC around 2 AM EST and Seth and I met Pete's mom. The next morning, Pete's mom had a yummy breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon made for us. After breakfast Peter's brother and nieces came by and we all took a dip in the pool that was in the backyard. Seth and Peter's oldest niece hit it off. After we were done swimming we did some karaoke on the dish's karaoke channel, then Pete's mom made lunch for kids, and Pete and I made sandwiches. I discovered my phone was broken, so we took a trip to the Verizon store, and I found out I had to have the new phone mailed to me. When we got back, we met Pete's brother's new girlfriend. We all got ready and headed to the K for the Royals game. The Royals were taking on the Twins. The kids had fun at the merry go round but first we had a heart attack cause we lost one of the Pete's nieces. After much praying, I found her and then all the kids enjoyed the merry-go-round and little playground. When the kids were done playing, we all got yummy stadium food and watched the game. Seth and I did a lot of screaming. Seth was booing all the Twins and their fans. He kept yelling, "Boo Twins" and, "go back to Minnesota we don't want you." He had a little fight with the woman behind us who was a Twins fan. The Royals lost the game:( After the game we headed back to Pete's mom's house and got ready for bed. The next morning Peter's mom got everyone yummy doughnuts for breakfast and we watched some Sunday morning cartoons with Seth, before Pete's brother and the girls came by. Seth and the girls take off to play and for some odd reason the adults got hooked on this Disney Channel movie about a merboy. We left around noon to head back to Indiana. When Seth and I got back home Seth instructed me that I had to marry Peter on Monday and that if any other girls tried to like Peter he was to tell them, "no, go away. Cause you are supposed to love my momma very lot much and marry her." I was later told that Peter's family thought Seth was very funny and entertaining. Seth is such a ham! What about me?????

Sept 24-26
Friday night I met Peter at Rose Hulman and he got a pizza andI got a yummy peanut butter ice cream smoothie, before heading to the gym for the homecoming pep rally. After the pep rally we went to the bonfire, which was pretty cool because they lit it by catapulting the first flame. After the bonfire, we headed to Mogger's and joined the AXE group for some yummy food and drinks. We had yummy cheese sticks, onion rings, potato skins, and a gourmet pesto pizza! Sat afternoon I met Pete at Rose for the homecoming game. The Fighting Engineers lost :( but it was still a fun game. After the game we headed back to the motel to get ready for Pete's 10 year reunion banquet. I wore my glamorous green and gold Asian dress, and Pete wore his gray pin stripped suit. Boy, did he look hot! We headed over to the reunion and met up with E and K. I got to meet some more of Pete's Rose Hulman friends. After the reunion JB joined me and Pete, and E and K at Zmberletti's, a fancy Italian joint. After we were done at Zamberletti's, E and K joined me and Pete at his hotel room to play games. We played Bonanza. E kicked all our asses. Sunday after church Seth and I met Pete at BW3 to watch the Chiefs game. The Chiefs lost again :( After the game we took Seth to an indoor blacklight mini golf course and Fairbanks park and he played on the playground. After we were done at the Park, we headed back to our homes.

Memorable Gencon Moments
Costuming for Gencon had 09: Cosplay (School Girl Anime/ School Girl Punk)

Tuesday Night I wore a school girl anime type outfit even though Gencon had not started and Pete and I went to an Indianapolis Indians game. I got some weird stares but a few cool people liked my geeky outfit. We sat next to some hecklers and we had a blast. These hecklers were friggin hilarious!!! They even had Pete doing some heckling, and normally he is a very quiet guy!

*Wed Costume of the day: Blue and Black plaid skirt, Blue vest with white sleeves and collar attached, blue and black argyle socks, a black bow tied around my vest collar, and my black platform Mary Janes.*

I Registered for events at the convention center in the afternoon, and then went to the mall in search of more costume accessories. I ran into my friend Kent, who talked me into trying out True Dungeon.I went to Hot Topic and couldn't pass up on a guys and girl's Flight of the Conchords t shirts.Pete loves that show and I needed to get him his monthly anniversary gift. When I was done I headed back to Pete's house and stopped at a costume shop and bought my costume accessories. Later in the evening Pete and I headed to the Hyatt for some pre Gencon games. We tried to play Are You a Werewolf but could not find any open games of it, so we found my friend, Lady Flame who was running her game of Run For Your Life Candyman with her stuffed Voodo candymen.

*Costume for the day: Red and black plaid skirt, black leggins, shoes that matched the skirt, a gray shirt with white sleeves. The shirt had a school crest on it, and came with a red plaid tie. I also wore a red plaid belt. I wore my wig in pigtails and had on cat ears and a cat tail.*

Pete took me out for a nice anniversary lunch at Mcallister's before had to head to Iowa. :( We stopped at Big Lots too so I could buy a cheap digital cam. I arrived at Gencon around 2 PM and spent most of the afternoon walking around the convention center, playing a game here or there. I got stopped by Channel 6 news and got interviewed for the 11:00 news. In the evening, I played Ticket to Ride: The Card Game, and half of Small World, before having to head over to the Marriott, to play True Dungeon for the first time, because my friend, Kent, gave me a free ticket. I wore my red Karen dress with the long red sleeves. True Dungeon was a total blast. The set up was amazing. So much detail went into it. You really felt like you were in a real dungeon and on a true quest. The theatrics was awesome, especially the half lady/half bird. I looked at her and wondered where in the world is she sticking legs? You could see her upper body and then all you saw was bird's legs and feet. I went on the 2 hour adventured entitled, Where There's Smoke, There's Fire. I forgot what character I was, but I had to memorize a bunch of leaf patterns. Our group was good. We had some pretty good player, and we made it all the way til the end. Theresa, a girl I met at Whosyercon and Inconjunction, was in my group. After playing TD, I headed back to the convention center to play Are You a Werewolf til the the wee hours of the morning. Actually I didn't sleep at all that night! The last game I played before heading back to Pete's house to get ready for the Queen of Geeks Pageant, was an Ultimate Werewolf version. There were 20 in the group. I was among 3 werewolves. I made it to the end of the game without getting lynched by the village. No one suspected me until the end. Me and one of the other werewolves actually killed the third one so we could throw the village off of our trail. We almost lost, but we managed to kill the seer who was about to nab us. The werewolves won that game, and I got a bunch of victory hugs and high 5's and was told that was the best game of werewolf played that night! Indeed it was. It was the best game of the whole con!!! Should go down in the Are You a Werewolf history books!

*Costume for the day: White blouse and pink tie, pink and black plaid skirt, matching pink and black plaid knee highs, and black platform Mary Janes.*

I participated in the Queen of the Geeks pageant. I had on my cosplay school girl outfit. When I introduced myself, I reminded the crowd of the fact that last year, when I was in the pageant, I told the crowd I was single and hinting to all the single gamer guys. I then went on to tell the crowd that this year I was not longer available because I met the geek of my dreams at, of all places, a gaming convention! After the intros the contestants participated in a trivia like game show with the audience, and I did horribly. After the trivia game came the talent portion. I came out on stage dressed like Seymour, from Little Shop Of Horrors. I had in my hand a big paper bag puppet that I made, that represented Audrey 2, and then I went on to sing Feed Me with my puppet, acapella. The crowd went wild. I did the actual stage version of the song and some people in the audience actually recognized it. I didn't place, but I later I ran into one of the judges and he told me it was a real toss up between me and the winner. They were real impressed with my performance because last year I got nervous and messed up royally. They didn't have runner ups because there were only 5 of us. We did have a Miss Congeniality, bit I didn't win that. I am so entering again next year and I know what my talent is gonna be. I am so ready to be Gencon 2010 Queen of the Geeks! After the pageant, I spent a lot of time in the dealer's hall. I played Rockband and got a 99% in vocals for Bring me to Life! I went over to the Northstar booth and played a demo of Wits and Wagers and Say Anything. I won Say Anything, so I got to spin the wheel. I ended up having to do a dare in order to win my prize. The Northstar workers told me I had to stand on a chair and sing a song. Of course I sang, Bring me to Life! I won the prize. I got to pick out any game. I picked the most expensive game they had, Cluzzle. After walking around the dealer's hall some more, I headed over to the board game room and played Settlers of Catan and Seafarers of Catan. I played Settlers with a man I net last year playing Settlers. I was doing real well until my longest road got stolen. I didn't win seafarers either, but it was still a lot of fun. After playing Seafarers, I went to check out the famous Ram, then I met up with some of my Indy Gamers Meetup group friends at the Cantebury. My friend Shane met me there and we headed to the Convention center to play Are You a Werewolf. Again, I played til the wee hours of the morning. I was even a mod once, so I could text Pete, who was in Iowa at Anime Iowa. If I was a mod, I couldn't get lynched for texting Pete! In the morning I had a yummy breakfast at Einstein Beagles before heading back to Pete's to get a little shut eye.

*Costume for the day: Pink and black plaid shirt, Black and White plaid skirt, black and gray argyle knee highs, black and white checkered tie, black converse type high tops that were actually knee length boots, and a blue chin length bobbed wig.*
I slept in til about 10:30. Pete let me stay at his house so I didn't have to pay for a hotel room, and he wanted me to house sit while he was at Anime Iowa. While I was in the shower I heard a thud at the front door. I went to look out the window to see what was going on. of course I was completely buck naked. I saw a van parked in front of the house and I freaked out and ran to grab a towel. I looked out the window again, this time I noticed that the van said florist on it. I was thinking to myself, "why are they parked in of Peter's house.......ohhhhhhhh! Wait, no way!" When the van drove away, I opened the door, and there on the porch, was a beautiful bouquet of purple flowers in a vase with purple ribbons tied around it! The flowers came with the sweetest note. Peter missed our anniversary because he was in Iowa, so he had flowers delivered to the house because he knew I would be there each morning. I was so surprised, I think I actually cried. What a perfect start to a perfect day of gaming at Gencon! I arrived downtown around noon. I had lunch at Noodles and Co before heading to the Convention Center. I spent most of Sat walking around the dealer's hall and taking pics of all the cool costumes I saw, since Sat was the big costume contest.I met a guy named Brad, while playing a game in the board game room. He invited me to hang out with his friends, and we all headed over to Circle Center mall to grab some food. I think Brad liked me, so I kept on talking about my boyfriend to give him the hint that I wasn't available, that and he was way to young for me. After wards I headed over to the Days of Wonder room and played Small World. I was winning, but I had to leave, so I let someone take my place. I headed over to the Wabash game room to play my registered, Happy Hour Fluxx. After playing Fluxx, I went to play my registered Wits and Wagers game. My team all wanted to know my age so they played "Wits and Wagers" to guess. The answers ranged from 10 - 40 and most of the bets were made on 18 or 20 one was made on 32. They all didn't believe me when I told them I was 33 going on 34 soon! About half way through the game the entire convention center got evacuated, and a bunch of fire trucks came. We later found out all the commotion was over a burnt pizza. I headed over to the Marriott and met up with my friend that I met at whosyercon and her daughters, and we got ready for the dance at Union Station. The theme this year was masquerade. My friends daughters made their own masks. They looked so cute in their dresses and masks. I wore my Karen dress. When we were walking to Union Station, we kept getting stopped by the locals so they could take our pics. We were getting ready to walk across a crosswalk and this lady in the passenger side stuck her head out the window and took our pic while the car was moving! When we got to the dance, I met up with Shane and his friend, Matt, who I met at one of Shane's board game meet ups,. Matt bought me a drink and we talked for a long time. I didn't have to worry about Matt hitting on me. He knew I was in a relationship and he is married. We joined Shane and his girlfriend, Jenny, on the dance floor. Later on I ran into a couple I met last year that introduced me to all kinds of games. While everyone was dancing a guy proposed to a girl and everyone on the dance floor formed a circle and let the couple have the floor to themselves. Then when they had their dance, everyone in the circle gave them a big group hug. While I was dancing a cute guy named Ben, who was dressed like a pirate, came over and started talking to me a lot and joined my dancing group. I think Ben liked me and was hitting on me, at least that's the vibe Shane got. Oh well, too bad. I am already taken, buddy! Ben was cute, but Pete is hot!!! After the dance Shane, Matt, Jenny, Ben and me headed back towards the convention center to play Are You a Werewolf. Ben changed his mind and went back to his hotel room, I think that had to do with the fact he found out I wasn't available. Wow, I was popular that weekend!!!! During the first game of Werewolf I had Jenny pegged as the werewolf and I had everyone ready to lynch her and then they changed their mind. Halfway through the game I got killed by the werewolves. I kept getting lynched by the village because I kept falling asleep during the game! So I went in pursuit of a midnight snack. When I came back, the game was over. I asked who were the werewolves, and Jenny was one of them! HA! I knew it! If only they had listened to me! I played more Werewolf til the wee hours of the morning and I was mod for a never ending game. I finally gave up and let someone else take over. Then I went home, well back to Pete's house.

*No costume but I did wear my Flight of the Conchords t shirt, which got a lot of compliments and had people singing to me random Flight of the Conchords songs.*

Arrived downtown around 1 and headed to the convention center. Played a game of Werewolf with my werewolf buddies from, previous nights. I was the seer and got killed by the werewolves in the first round. I ran into my friend, Black, and joined him at Steak and Shake. I had a yummy cookie sundae and mint chocolate chip shake. After Steak and Shake, I headed back to the conventions center and walked around the dealer's hall some and played a game of Small World in the board game room. When the dealer's hall closed, I found my werewolf buddies right where I left them. I played another round of Werewolf and got lynched by the second round, so I joined a group playing Are You a Traitor? Then when were were done we played some more Werewolf until we got kicked out of the convention center. A group of us headed over Noodles and Co for dinner and to hang out. I exchanged pone numbers and Facebooks with a guy named Caitlin aka Cat, because I wanted him to meet Pete and my friend, Chris some day, since he too, was a huge fan of anime. After eating and hanging out at Noodles, I finally headed back home. Thus ending, my Gencon vacation! :(

Miyazaki, Geeks, Trolls, and Knights
Peter introduced my son to anime a few months ago. He was gonna be gone for a week on vacation and my son and I needed something to do to keep us distracted since we were gonna miss our Pete. The day before he left, Pete gave me a bunch of anime movie to get started on. Most of them were Miyazaki movies and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I guess I didn't really to watch all those movies because it turned out I was pretty busy that week, but my son watched the movies over and over again. First he watched Kiki's Delivery Service about 3 times in a row then the next day he watched Spirited Away for about a week straight. He also watched Nausicca and Grave of the Fireflies with me. When Pete got back from vacation he asked to borrow Castle in the Sky which he watched over and over again. Last month we took him to see Ponyo, which he really enjoyed. He smiled and laughed a lot throughout the movie, and when he laughs in a movie it's very very cute. I am hoping to take Seth to his first anime con in Nov, when Anime Crossroads comes to Indy.

I did decide that I had time to watch Monty Python, but I told my son he couldn't watch it because it was a grownup movie. He came in my room and watched anyway. I didn't push the issue, so I let him watch. He never laughed so hard at a movie. The first scene he laughed at was the black knight scene, then he laughed at the knights who say ni, then he really laughed at the troll by the bridge scene. One day I was at work and I came home to hear my son laughing up a storm, so I asked, "Seth what are you doing?" "watching Monty Python Momma hehehaha." For the next week he kept quoting the bridge scene, saying, "Wait,I don't know that. Ahhhhhhhhhh." He also kept saying "we are the knights who say ni, oh no, not the knights who say ni."

Pete and I have taken Seth to some of our gaming groups and was told by a lot of our friends that Seth had the makings of being a little gamer geek, but Seth thought being called a geek was a bad thing because you just don't call people anything other than their name otherwise it's bad. Well after Seth starting watching anime and Monty Python, Pete and I said, "now you really are a geek." Well this still didn't sit well with Seth, so Pete said, "If you are not a geek then you can't play my video games anymore cause geeks like to play video games." Well when Seth heard this he changed his attitude real quick and said, "ok, ok I am big geek cause I like to play Peter's games."

Ever since he finally confessed to being a geek my son has been watching geeky movies like crazy. He's either watching Star Wars, or some superhero movie and telling me, "Momma I'm a geek cause I am watching geeky movies and I still like to play games." Today I asked him, "what kind of geek are you?" and he said, "I'm a gamer geek." P-Chan would be so proud!
